Captain's profile: Christian Koch

Langenhoven Gim captain Christian Koch is determined to lead by example as his team look to get revenge on rivals Punt this weekend.

The dynamic inside centre was part of the team that narrowly lost away from home last year, and he has set his sights set on putting things right in front of their home crowd in Oudtshoorn on Saturday.

Koch has enjoyed the responsibility of leading the team this year, which he describes as a great honour for him and his family.

It has been amazing to be a part of this very special group of players and coaches, with the highlight being our 48-16 against Oudtshoorn," he said.

The committed midfielder with an eye for a gap and silky distribution skills will lead an experienced team out against Punt, but he knows that they face a tough test.

"They are a very committed side so we are expecting a very tough game, but we have an 80% win record this year so we are feeling quite confident," he said.

Koch plans to study at NMMU in George next year, and as he reaches the end of his high school rugby career he is hoping to go out in style with a victory over Punt.

"My message to the team this week was that when two lions fight, one must die, so we will be giving everything," he said.
