Captain's profile: Joshua Goodchild
Despite fielding a really young side, the captain is confident that his team has the capabilities to secure yet another victory against their opponents.
"On Saturday we are fielding the full first XV side, we are a relatively young team but have been playing together all season," the skipper stated.
The hosts are aware that matches between the sides have always been physical with lots of running and this year's expectations is no different.
"Saturday they will come for us. Having been part of last year's encounter I know it’s going to be physical and a very hard game.
"The game is never won until you hear the final whistle and that is what we have to remember. We have to play at our best to win," Goodchild said.
The hooker has been wearing the first XV jersey for two years and enjoys each training session as much as the first one.
"I just love training with my friends and being on the field every day. It is about improving myself and my technique.
"To be named captain is a bonus and a huge honour. It is a memory I will never forget,” the skipper added.
The 17-year-old acknowledged that the season has not been Schoonspruit’s best, but feels that it is not uncommon when it comes to sports.
"We have had a lot of ups and downs but you will get that in any team. So far we had a memorable season and hope to secure another victory on Saturday.
"It is all about regaining momentum to end the season strong," he stated.
Given that this might be the skipper's last Classic Clash, his future plan is to focus on his studies and continue building on his rugby career at North-West University - Pukke.
