Captain's profile: Keenan Swart

In 2015, the side from Caledon suffered a 5-15 defeat at the hands of their rivals. This year, Swartberg SS holds a slight advantage as they are playing at home.

"The rivalry between Swartberg SS and Hawston SS is fairly young, the two schools have been playing in the Classic Clashes for just under five years but with each Classic Clash, the rivalry intensifies. It really makes for good rugby.

"Thus, I expect nothing but that intense rugby from Hawston. Therefore, we should be prepared and not underestimate them," Swart said.

Swartberg's first XV are a really young and inexperienced team, who have been struggling to gain form throughout the season. The team managed to pick up an odd win here and there but it has been tough on their confidence as a side, especially heading into the Classic Clash.

"We have had an average season that we really are not used to. With each game, we have been trying our best but just can't seem to build up momentum. I am hopeful that Saturday our luck will change.

"We will be fielding the same team. Despite being young and inexperienced they are worthy of their spot in the first XV," he added.

After being part of the first XV for two years, the No.8 was given the responsibility of leading the side - a job he truly appreciates.

"Being named captain is a huge honour and an excited feeling, it is really the highlight of my rugby career. As a captain, I only have one thing on my mind and that is to be able to lead my team to their greatest victory and being able to motivate them to do the unbelievable.

"As we head into this match, I just want to encourage the guys to stay positive, do the impossible and never ever give up no matter what challenge is ahead," he stated.
