Captain's profile: Lesiba Molopa
The schools have had numerous encounters and a long traditional rivalry but this fixture will just the third FNB Classic Clash between them. In their two previous FNB Classic Clash encounters, both sides managed to grab a victory.
"Over the years, the schools [Parktown Boys and St John's College] have had a long traditional rivalry with each. This is the third FNB Classic Clash between the two schools, with each school winning one away game," Molopa said.
Having been part of the first XV for two years, the 19-year-old loose forward will lead an experienced side onto St John's field and expects a competitive encounter.
"We will be fielding a very experienced team. Four of the starting line-up made their first XV debuts last week while the rest of the guys were part of the side last season.
"As a team we are expecting a good, fair and competitive game from them. It's an exciting time for me being named captain and with that comes a lot of honour. I'm a positive influence on the players around me, which will make captaining the side a bit easier.
"As a player though, I like the physical nature of the game," he added.
While the season is in its infancy, Molopa believes their campaign will be successful if they maintain a high work ethic and focus on the upcoming game, instead of the opponents later on in the year.
"Looking ahead to the Classic Clash against St John's College, I have reminded the rest of my team that all we need to do is stick to our structure and play the way we have been practicing. I f we execute that effectively, we will attain success," Molopa stated.
The matriculant added that he will always remember the moment he made his first XV debut while his time in the school's Under-16 team is right up there as well.
Molopa is hoping to take his talent a step further in pursuit of playing this sport at the highest possible level while also obtaining a University degree in Health Sciences.
