Captain's Profile: Romario Fish

Potchefstroom Boys High captain Romario Fish has a philosophy to the game that could be compared to a seasoned player, who knows exactly what to do to lift his team.

The 18-year-old will be using his key principles when they come against HTS Potchefstroom in their annual classic clash this coming Saturday.

"Communication with players is very important as well as understanding each player. A captain must also be able to motivate his players and lead by example," said Fish.

The 80kg, 1.79m flank says his strong points as a player and captain are his physicality, fitness and his controlled aggression. He is hoping his team gives their all this weekend after giving them his message this week.

"I want them to play to the best of their ability and as a team. Play for the full 80 minutes.

"We respect them (HTS Potchefstroom) as a team, but we feel up to the challenge," he said.

Fish represented the Leopards Under-18 side during last year's Academy Week, which he says was a great experience as he got to compete against other provinces and meet new players. However, his highlight in his career comes a year earlier when he played his first match for Potch Boys High first team in 2013 against Springs Boys.

Fish has some bright plans for his future and rugby is just one.

"I want to go and study law at North West University and play some good rugby," Fish added.
