Colleges meet in Bloem
Maritzburg College go up to Bloemfontein to take on Grey College, a daunting task though not too daunting to the brave men from the land of Zulu warriors. But the fact is that Grey College are daunting opponents no matter who you are.
Both schools are capable of heroism and brilliant rugby.
It will be great outing as some 700 Maritzburg College boys get into buses and go over the Drakensberg to Bloemfontein where great Grey hospitality awaits them - a far bigger and more elaborate occasion than the first meetings.
The first meeting was in 1940 in Bloemfontein. The second meeting was in 1947 in Bloemfontein. After that there was long break, till 1985 when the match was played on Goldstone's and a great Maritzburg College side won. After that, for 12 in matches in the next 20 years Maritzburg College won for the second time, after which Grey started to stretch further and further ahead in matches played, the last one in 2008

Grey College have played 19 matches, winning 17, drawing one and losing one, just recently to Grey PE. Of their opponents 10 have been Top 20 sides, for Grey College are not afraid.
Maritzburg College have played 18, wiunning 13, drawing two and losing to Wynberg and Glenwood (twice). of their opponents seven have been Top 20 sides, for Maritzburg College are not afraid.
