Competitions in Northvaal
Results' time
In Northvaal, rugby competitions are important. Each province has it s own then the Battle for the Beeld starts.
We look at what things are like in each of the provinces where the competitions are divided into Big Schools (ten or more teams), Medium Schools (five to nine teams) and Small Schools (one to four teams).
Blue Bulls
Big Schools: The final is still to be played and those two old rivals will be at it again - Affies, who beat Zwartkop 22-15, and Waterkloof, who beat Centurion 27-10.
Medium Schools: Overkruin, having a great season, are the champions, beating Silverton 22-12 in the final.
Small Schools: Erasmus beat CR Swart 27-18, despite a great effort by the losers.
Falcons:
Big Schools: Transvalia took over from HTS Vereeniging, beating the Tekkies 24-8.
Medium Schools: Driehoek beat Dr Malan 28-12 after the Dokkies had begun well.
Small Schools: Parys pulled a surprise in beating Stoffberg 26-10.
Golden Lions
Big Schools: Strong Monument were too strong for willing Florida, winning 29-9.
Medium Schools: Linden eventually broke clear to beat Jan Viljoen 28-13.
Small Schools: HTS Nic Diederichs beat Westonaria 13-10 in a tense match.
Leopards
Big Schools: None.
Medium Schools: Volkskool of Potchefstroom are yet again the champions after beating Frikkie Meyer 24-19 in Thabazimbi.
Small schools: Vryburg are again the champions after beating Orkney 18-13.
Limpopo
This is the old Far North.
Big Schools: Hans Strijdom are again the champions after beating Pietersburg a narrow 7-0 after fullback Andries van der Heyde scored a second-half try.
Medium Schools: Ben Vorster's try by tighthead Nico van Schalkwyk gave the school a 7-3 victory over Ellisras.
Small Schools: Louis Trichardt beat Eric Louw 12-10, warding off a big fightback.
Mpumalanga
Big Schools: The Rooi Bulle are champions again, beating the Nellies 20-12 in the heat in Nelspruit. For uninitiated HTS Middelburg beat Nelspruit.
Medium schools: Standerton beat Hoërskool Middelburg 26-18.
Small Schools: Volksrust won it beating the relatively new private school Uplands College 14-7 in the final.
