Die Brandwag dominate in Uitenhage
Die Brandwag celebrated their 80th anniversary in style as they scored eight tries to one.
Captain Chadwyn November played out of his boots and kept Daniel Pienaar on the back foot throughout the match. November's accurate kicking and creativity with the ball set up most of his side's tries.
In front, Le Klue Stokes and Eldon Lotz were outstanding in the scrums and within three minutes of the game, Die Brandwag were on the board thanks to a successful penalty by Gavin Kriel.
Minutes later they extended the lead when Stokes dived over for the first try of the match, 10-0.
In the 12th minute, Daniel Pienaar finally got on the board. The hosts conceded a penalty and Daniel Pienaar opted for the much-needed three-pointer. Flyhalf Dylan Le Roux made no mistake and slot over the penalty to trail, 3-10.
However, the visitors' celebrations were short lived as Die Brandwag stamped their dominance over the opposition.
Just before the break, Die Brandwag hooker Waldo Greunen powered over the whitewash while scrumhalf Chadd Adams scored a brace of tries to take a 27-3 lead to the lockers.
As the second half commenced, the hosts continued to with their onslaught as No.8 Elandre Smit and captain November each dabbed down for tries, respectively.
With the writing already on the wall, Daniel Pienaar captain Ryan Oliphant made sure his team at least went home with a try, as he scored the visitors' only try of the match with 10 minutes remaining.
However, for Die Brandwag, it was still far from over as they made sure they had the last say thanks to Dean Jordan. The wing beat his defenders on the outside to score just behind te posts and made sure his side take the bragging rights in Uitenhage.
