Die Burger Finals Details

The three finals of Die Burger Rugby Competition for High Schools will take place on Saturday 30 August in Cradock.

The three categories are Big Schools, Medium Schools and Small Schools. The finalists have arrived after selection with into four southern princes - Western Province, Boland, South Western Districts and Eastern Province.

There are three finalists from Eastern Province, two from Western Province, one from Boland and none from South Western Districts.

Paarl Boys' High are Big School finalists. Their journey to Cradock was not easy. They left Paarl by bus early on Thursday morning, headed for Graaff-Reinet because Cradock was booked out. They slept over on Thursday in Graaff-Reinet, intending to head for Cradock the next morning. It's a mountain region and the sudden cold snap that took control of South Africa produced snow in the mountains and blocked the road. Paarl Boys' High were shut out. They were  resigned to spending the night in Graaff-Reinet and hoping to get through on the Saturday but mercifully for them the pass was opened and they could get through to Cradock on Friday afternoon.
