FNB Top 20 - 24 July 2012
There were matches to cause upheavals in the Top 20 this week.
Paarl Gim drew, Grey PE lost to a team not on the Top 20, Noord-Kaap won well in Port Elizabeth, Boland Landbou had an impressive win in the Wynberg wet and Bethlehem Voortrekker had a huge win in an FNB Classic Clash.
Then there are teams no longer playing which we shall allow to slide out as reward those who are playing.
As we start a new term, let's just repeat what we said at the start of the year and every other year for 14 years: This is not at all absolute. One has just to give a moment's thought to realise that no absolute Top 20 is possible, no matter what method we use. But it does produce extra interest in schools rugby by providing lots of discussion, as the selection of teams always does.
One other thing: there are three people who work on the Top 20 each week. On a few occasions in the last 14 years there have been just two people doing the final placings but never fewer than two and even then not without the input of the third man.
