FNB Top 20 - The final one
This is the final Top 20 for 2011 which takes into account the whole season, rather than each week's performances.
It is not an easy task as anyone can soon realise but it is done with fairness and care. Not that anybody would agree with it, not even the individuals who agree to the final listing.
Let's say again what we said at the start of the season: "It is good to get the ranking in perspective. It is not absolute, nor can it be, but it does increase interest in schools rugby in South Africa and it is an acknowledgement and extra reward as well as an encouragement for schools.
"But the most important perspective is that these are bit a few amongst a vast number of schools playing enthusiastic and skilful rugby in South Africa."
The following teams have appeared on the FNB Top 20 at various times during the season: Affies, Bethlehem Voortrekker, Bishops, Bishops, Dale, Diamantveld, Die Brandwag of Uitenhage, Drostdy, EG Jansen, Ermelo, Florida, Framesby, Glenwood, Grey College of Bloemfontein, Grey High of Port Elizabeth, Hentie Cilliers, HTS Middelburg, Kearsney, Kemptonpark, Marais Viljoen, Maritzburg College, Menlopark, Noord-Kaap, Oakdale, Outeniqua, Paarl Boys' High, Paarl Gim, Paul Roos, Queen's, Rondebosch, Selborne, Tygerberg, Waterkloof, Westville - 33 schools in all, all of them capable of beating almost all of the other schools in the group.
