From the eye of the coach

Glenwood played DHS in that long and close rivalry on Saturday and Glenwood won 34-9. Sean Erasmus, the Glenwood coach, talks about the game.

The FNB Classic Clash between traditional rivals Glenwood and DHS turned out to be all it was built up to be. It was an awesome day at Glenwood with all the sporting teams doing well throughout the age groups.

Glenwood High School once again supported the Jes Foord Rugby Against Rape Campaign. The schoolboys all wore Lime Green Shoelaces; the colour of the Jes Foord Foundation, and the first team wore the shoelaces with matching lime green shorts.

The Green Machine played a composed game of rugby making the least amount of mistakes and capitalised from the DHS penalties. Warren Potgieter dictated most of the game with his accurate boot making the score board tick for the host school. The whole team played well and supported each other with every move.

Captain Marne Coetzee lead from the front and was well supported by his teammates. Dylan Coulson finished well for the Glenwood team scoring two brilliant tries that had the massive crowd of about 6,000-plus on their feet. Michael van Aardt scored the other try as he barged his way over from the back of the scrum at a five metre attacking scrum. This game was a real team effort to settle the final score at 34 points to 9 in favour of the Green Machine.

Special mention to the second team that played amazing rugby in the lead-up to the main game of the day, Glenwood is blessed with a strong senior age group and it was great to see all the boys playing so well. Thank you to the school for all the support throughout the day and for the loud cheering during the main game!

Well done to the First XV for maintaining the hard work and belief in each other through all the challenges in the past weeks! I hope the old boys enjoyed their Old Boys Weekend and we thank them for their support and belief in their school. The team and school is Blessed with Brotherhood and support.
