Good day for Graeme

Graeme probably proved a little too strong on the day against Newton Tech through the various age groups, but the 1st XV match proved to be a good battle.

Graeme knew it was important to get the first score on the board, and after dominating the first 10 minutes they were finally rewarded with a try by Sivu Ngqiyaza, who then also converted his own try.

Newton Tech then asked some serious questions of the Graeme defence, who stood tall as Newton Tech tried to convert the pressure into points.  Graeme went on to score two more tries in the first half by Bukhosi Mnlambie and Wonga Wakashe to lead 19-0 at half time.

Newton Tech started the second half by asserting more pressure on the Graeme line, but once again the Graeme defence stood firm, not allowing their opponents to score any points. Graeme went on to score three more tries in the second half by Liyema Mafane, Lelethu Cekiso and Cameron Amos.  Sivu Ngqiyaza converted one of the tries to bring the Graeme tally up to 33.  Newton Tech scored a try of their own to make the final score 33-7.

It was a good day for the Graeme sides, who will want to take that confidence into next weekend’s fixtures against Grey.
