Grey vs Grey

This Saturday 20 rugby teams of Grey High School will leave the sea and go up over the mountains to play Bloemfontein's Grey College in a Premier Interschools fixture.

*To make recognition easier we shall refe to Grey College Secondary School of Bloemfontein as Grey Bloem and Grey High School of Port Elizabeth as Grey PE.

The two great schools share the Grey name as they were both founded by Sir George Grey, the popular governor of the Cape Colony - Grey Bloem in 1855 and Grey PE in 1856 as the Grey Institute which later changed to Grey High School.

Season So Far

Grey Bloem is  again enjoying an outstanding season. It is ranked No.1 on the Schools Top 20, Grey PE 10th.

Grey Bloem have played and won 13 matches, in the process playing against seven other Top 20 teams.

Grey PE have also played 13 matches. They have won nine, drawn two and lost two. They have played against four other Top 20 teams.

They have not yet played against any common opponents.

Grey Bloem's players are eligible for Free State school teams, Grey PE for Eastern Province.
