Janco Schutte - Captain of Potch Gim
Given their geographical proximity, it is understandable that players from Potch Gimmies and Potch Volkies would know each other well. For Gimmies skipper Janco Schutte familiarity brings something else to the party.
Schutte remembers every single result against Volkies since his Under-14A days and he would love nothing more than ending his high school battles against Volkies on a high.
He suffered narrow defeats at U14 and U15 level, before tasting victory at Under-16 level in 2010. 2011 was a disappointing memory for him, as his side lost the First XV battle 38-17 (and by six tries to one), but he believes all could be different in 2012.
Janco is a hard-working and powerful No.7 flank - standing 1,96 metres tall and weighing a rather hefty 104 kilograms.
He has captained his school at every age group along the way, having played at lock at U14 and 15 level and flank at U16 and senior level.
His current rugby hero is Bulls loose forward CJ Stander who could just have played his way into Springbok contention against England next month with a series of powerful performances for the Pretoria-based Super Rugby franchise.
"I know he's young," explains Janco, "but he plays the kind of physical rugby I enjoy."
Given his size and strength it is easy to see why Schutte likes Stander's robust style of play.
That kind of power will put his team in good stead against the Volkies on Saturday but, also, as he looks ahead to life after school.
"I'd like to join the Puk-Rugby Institute," he reveals, "then I'll take things step-by-step.
"I'd love to play Koshuis-rugby or Varsity Cup Under-20 rugby... but my major goal would be to, one day, play for the NWU-Pukke First XV."
