Jonty Bredell - Captain of St. Stithians

St. Stithians captain Jonty Bredell is proud of his record against St. Johns over the years and is keen to notch another victory in their derby on Saturday.

Bredell was captain of his age-group side at St. Stithians every year, and after losing to St. Johns in their first game in Under-14 his side won every fixture after that, so he will lead them out with a fair amount of confidence in the FNB Classic Clash this weekend.

Around half of Bredell's team are in Matric and have played under him through the age-groups, whilst the other half are Grade 11's who he says have "grown up quite a bit" through their experiences this year.

Bredell started out as a scrumhalf but has moved to inside centre where he relishes the physical nature of the defensive requirements and sees himself as a "distributor" on attack.

Bredell believes that if his team are to claim another victory over their rivals on Saturday then there will have to be a solid platform laid up front, with the pack tasked with putting St. Johns onto the back foot.

His team have started to gather some pleasing momentum in recent weeks, beating some good teams and proving to be tough customers at home so Bredell is keen for them to take advantage of that confidence on Saturday.

The St. Stithians skipper plans to study business administration in Stellenbosch from 2013 onwards, where he also intends to pull on a maroon jersey to represent the Maties.
