KES and Jeppe rivalry continues

In fact the rivalry between Jeppe and KES is probably all the keener for being an old one and between near-neighbours. Both are schools who owe gratitude to Lord Milner and his attempt to develop education in the young city recovering from the Anglo-Boer War.

Both schools have traditional ways of doing things, rituals that may develop into superstitions but are really little ceremonies that enhance the occasion.  This applies above all to the first XVs and adds to their stature in the school. You never forget the time when you played for the first XV and the things you did.

The Season So Far

Jeppe have had a better season than KES  have and are currently ranked 16th on the FNB Top 20 whereas KES are unranked this year. That said, Jeppe have had a poor start to this term, losing to Parktown and Waterkloof.

In all Jeppe have lost four out of 16 matches, KES four out of 12.
