Klein Nederburg secure narrow win

The cold, wet and windy conditions could not put a damper on the intensity and the crowd's spirit.

Klein Nederburg adapted their game plan to suit the weather conditions as they made use of Rick Jordaan's boot to send New Orleans back into their own half. Deadlocked for most of the opening minutes, it was only a matter of time until New Orleans' stubborn defence would be breached.

Klein Nederburg bagged the first points thanks to a Zane America try, which Jordaan converted to make it 7-0 in the visitors' favour.

Both sides gave away easy penalties just before the interval. Unfortunately for New Orleans, they missed their attempt at goal whereas Jordaan took full advantage of his opportunity to extended his side's lead to 10 points.

Klein Nederburg took a 10-0 advantage into the break.

New Orleans produced some amazing rugby at the resumption of play but found themselves to be a little over-eager to score. With 15 minutes to go on the clock, New Orleans finally broke through the Klein Nederburg's defence.

After building some phases, Daleel Abrahams visited the try line and Keenan Williams slotted in the extras. As the game headed into the dying minutes, New Orleans gave it everything they had but it proved little too late as Klein Nederburg held on.

Klein Nederburg captain Nathan Fredericks gave a statement after the match. The winning skipper said: "It was a hard-hitting match and really close, I am so happy we were successful,"

While the losing skipper Kelvin January said: "We really tried our best but we have give credit to Klein Nederburg's defense -it was very good,"
