Kwaggas bo in Burger

Outeniqua won the Burger Series when they beat Paarl Gim 30-22 in the Big Schools Final in George on Saturday.


This was Gim's second defeat in successive weeks after a strong season which included victory in the Interschools.


The Kwaaggas got away to a great start and led 22-12 at half-time. Left wing Duhan van der Merwe scored the try of the match when he raced some 70 metres for a try.


Gimmies were unfortuaqnte to lose their flyhalf, Ryan Oosthuizen. Handre Pollard was injured and not available and Oosthuizen was also injured and had to leave the field.


Each side scored three tries but the siffernce was the goal-kicking of inside centre Warrick Galant.


In the Medium Schools Augsburg of Clanwilliam beat Nico Malan of Humansdorp 22-20 after Nico Malan had led 10-8 at the break. Again goal-kicking played an important [part oin deciding the outcome of the match.


In the Small Schools Dirkie Uys of Moorreesburg had a big 51-3 win over Ndzondelelo of Port Elizabeth.


The wins thus went to South Western Districts and Boland who had two.
