Maritzburg College in convincing victory 

Match report

In the final game of their season, Maritzburg College beat Glenwood 30-7 on Goldstone's on Saturday.

The forwards, as had happened in the corresponding match in Durban earlier in the year, established ascendancy and the backs produced one of their better displays of the season.

A penalty and a try, after a long, cut-out pass, put College into a comfortable 8-0 lead as half-time approached. But College were rocked when they conceded a converted try shortly before the interval.

At 8-7, both sides had everything to play for, but it was College who took control of the game in the second half to register 22 unanswered points.

Constant pressure brought three further tries and the match ended with College threatening to extend their lead even further.

It was a satisfying end to a season in which, after a difficult start, College had won eleven of their last thirteen matches.
