Marlow shock Boishaai

The three finals of Die Burger competitions open to four southern provinces were played in Cradock on Saturday and produced a major surprise in the final for Big Schools.

The other winners were Die Brandwag of Uitenhage and Excelsior of Cape Town.

Paarl Boys' High, who had difficulty getting by bus to Cradock, because of a snow-blocked pass, scored two tries to one and could have had more but they kicked nothing and were leading 10-6 till big eighthman Luigy van Jaarsveld, who did well at Craven Week, went storing away for the try which won the match.

Marlow were up for the match and tackled 'like demons' , ran at Boys' High and outscrummed them. Paarl played with a strong wind in the second half but continued playing with the ball in hand rather than using the wind to gain territory.
