Match Report

Muir College of Uitenhage defeated Despatch 20-17 in an entertaining schools rugby match played in dampish conditions in Uitenhage on Tuesday, 1 August 2006.

At half-time Muir led 10-7.

The teams ran in three tries a piece, but in contrasting styles.

Muir produced some good enterprising play in laying the foundation for victory, while Despatch carried the ball up in close quarters, which led to two of their tries.

Sinethemba Mali, Odwa Tafeni and and Charl du Toit scored tries for Muir. Despatch responded with tries by Ruan Litthauer (2) and Heinrich Baartman.

Brendan Meyer kicked a conversion and a penalty for Muir, while Morné van Rensburg succeeded with a conversion foe Despatch.
