Newlands Schools Day results

There was a good crowd present and a goodly group of current stars present to watch their teams in action - Damian de Allende, Dillyn Leyds, Sikhumbuzo Notshe, Nizaam Carr, Jean-Luc du Plessis, JD Schickerling, Cheslin Kolbe and Nic Groom.

On the afternoon before the event, Paarl Gim let SACS know that they would not be fielding their first team but their second team. Chagrined, SACS also fielded their second team.

Rondebosch also did not have a full-strength team as their 1st XV is touring in Ireland.

NB - The 1st XV matches are 20 minutes each way with no kicks at goal.

Tygerberg 65-0 Milnerton

In the first match of the day Tygerberg High were ruthless as they ran in 13 unanswered tries to pick up a convincing 65-0 win against Milnerton High, with fullback Tiaan Henecke running in an astonishing five tries on his own.

Brackenfell 20-10 Rondebosch XV

In the second match, an understrength Rondebosch side - whose first XV are on tour - went down 10-20 at the hands of a well-drilled Brackenfell side.

Wynberg 30-5 Bellville

Wynberg Boys proved too strong for Bellville High, and outscored them by six tries to one to win 30-5, while Paarl Gimnasium were also dominant in their 20-5 victory over SACS.

Boland Landbou 25-10 Bishops

The penultimate game saw Bishops go up against Boland Landbou, and it was the farmers who took that one 25-10.

Paarl Boys High 20-0 Stellenberg

Finally the attention turned to the clash between the two best-supported teams - Paarl Boys' High and Stellenberg.

Despite a determined showing from Stellenberg, the class of Paarl Boys High shone through as they picked up a clinical 20-0 win to the delight of their legion of vocal supporters.
