Northvaal's Bondedag

On Saturday, while the Springboks were beating the Scots, there was a Bondedag in Northvaal at which teams warmed up for Craven Week with a succession of demanding matches.

Some of the teams may well meet again at the Craven Week though not on the first two days. But the Valke, the Leopards, the Golden Lions, the Free State, Griquas and the Blue Bulls are in the same group.

The Bondedag was held at the DP de Villiers Stadium in Sasolburg, which is in the Valke area.

The Free State led the Blue Bulls 24-0 at half time. The player whop provided the spark was speedster Llewellyn Hein who scored two tries.

It took a last minute penalty by Kearsney's Tristan Tedder to take his side into a winning lead.

Players who played important roles in their team's victory were Warren Britz, the Dr EG Jansen eighthman, of the Valke, Welkom Gim's  wing Nazo Nkala of the Griffons and Noord-Kaap's scrumhalf Brandon de Melim of the Leopards.
