Outeniqua win Die Burger

Match report

Outeniqua of George, winners in 2004 of the Media24 trophy, became the first winners of the new competition organised by Die Burger when they beat HTS Drostdy of Worcester 24-9 at Outeniqua Park in George on Saturday afternoon.

The Outeniqua pack laid the foundation for this some excellent back play. The Outeniqua backs rocked Drostdy with excellent movements. They were unfortunate not to score two more tries.

Drostdy did well in the scrums but lost a lot of ball in the line-outs. Outeniqua's own line-outs were excellent and provided a platform for attacks. In the loose, too, Outeniqua dominated.

For Outeniqua prop Byers Bekker, lock Bernard Wolmarans, eighthman Joshua de Klerk and centre Johan Koen played well.
