Rooi hammers Blou
In an FNB Classic Clash in Kroonstad on Saturday, the Rooiskool - Afrikaanse Hoërskool - was, as expected, far too strong for the Blouskool - Hoërskool Kroonstad. Rooiskool won 52-0 in the annual match which attracts huge attention and huge crowds, this year to the Rooiskool.
This is the biggest score and - it follows - the biggest winning margin in matches between the two schools. Rooiskool has now had a run of seven successive victories over their rivals.
At half-time the Rooiskool led 17-0 but in the second half they scored 35 more points as they ran away with the game.
A change that made an impact was shifting Francois Stemmet to centre. The powerful captain of the successful Griffons at Craven Week where his side was one of only two provinces to win all three of its matches. They did so comfortably, beating Border (47-20), Eastern Province Country (33-15) and the Leopards (34-17).
In the match against Blouskool, Francois Stemmet was the outstanding player on the field, scoring two of his side's seven tries.
There were also fine performances by clever, energetic Craven Week lock Erik Knoetze, eighthman, Johan Steyn, wing Louis Steyn who was a handful for the defence and scrumhalf Duncan Horak.
