Saints Easter Festival 2016

It is the Easter Festival that really put the concept on the map and remains a most popular event. It is more than just a rugby jamboree as is clear from the information it has sent out.

St Stithians College’s Easter Sports Festival is a milestone in the Saints calendar. The festival brings thousands of players together for an action-packed weekend of sport, competition and fun. This year will bring even more teams together.

Between the Prep Festival and the Easter Sports Festival this year, we expect to host over 100 teams from over 40 schools and over 1 000 players for some exciting sport and healthy competition. Schools will travel from Botswana, Zimbabwe and across South Africa to take part in this massive celebration of school sport.

The Prep Festival will take place from March 17-19 and the Easter Sports festival will take place on March 24, 26 and 28.

Expect to watch hockey, netball, rugby, and tennis at the Prep Festival and basketball, cross country, hockey, netball, rugby, squash, and tennis at the Easter Sports festival.

Please note that while the official start date of the festival is March 24, some fixtures like tennis and hockey begin on March 23.

Easter festival vendors will sell a range of items including coffee, ice cream, educational toys, pancakes, footwear, and pizzas.

There will also be a supervised children’s play area at the main festival where Under-12s can get their faces painted, bounce around in jumping castles, enjoy a ride in a parachute rocket and swing in a 12-seater swing.

"We are delighted to have so many teams and codes participating in our exciting Easter Sports festival this year. We look forward to welcoming our visitors from across Southern Africa. The event is a major highlight of the St Stithians calendar," St Stithians College Rector, Dr Tim Nuttall said.
