Schools kick off on March 5
Rugby tells you that winter is here already. Super Rugby does it, so do the Varsities when allowed and even the schools are doing it.
Mars was the God of war. This was the time of the year in ancient Europe when armies started mobilising for summer campaigning. In the Southern Hemisphere it seems that Mars is rugby's god, and mobilisation has already happened.
Competitions - Tuks Series, Pukke Prestige and 16 Series - are already under way.
In addition Hoërskool Fichardtpark hosted its annual rugby day.
The surprise results of the day may well be Kalahari's win over Hentie Cilliers.
