In some ways, Paarl Boys' High's win over Drostdy was special as it was the great school's 40th consecutive win. It seems that the most consecutive wins was Grey Bloem's 46 in 2007-2009 when they lost 3-9 to Paul Roos, on a day when SA Schools were in action. Grey had six in the SA Schools side, Paul Roos one.
Paarl Gim played Outeniqua at home, in a match of many tries. On Wednesday, Gimmies had had a big win over Durbanville.
There were surprises. Last week, Rondebosch beat Wynberg and Bishops beat SACS. This week SACS beat Rondebosch and Wynberg beat Bishops. Results are past tense!
In Bloemfontein, it took a conversion in injury time for Grey to beat Paul Roos and that after a debatable try.
There were seven FNB Classic Clashes this past Saturday with wins for Hudson Park, Framesby, Grey Bloem, Dale up in Queenstown, Punt, Swartberg and Hexvallei.
In a Premier Interschools Match, Boland Landbou won their agricultural battle with Oakdale.
Up north, there were semifinals in the Beeld Trophy, the Shimla League and the Irawa League. Winners there were Dr EG Jansen in the Macro Schools division, Helpmekaar and Lichtenburg amongst big schools and Ben Viljoen and Vryburg amongst medium Schools. In the Shimla League, Welkom Gim won and in the Irawa League Kalahari and St Andrew's went through to the final.
Because of players involved in the Under-19 International Series. Garsfontein will play Monument on Tuesday in Krugersdorp and Grey will play Voortrekker in Bethlehem.
