Three Die Burger Finalists

In three semifinal matches three finalists were decided for Die Burger's annual competition for 1st XVs in the southern part of South Africa, its distribution area.

The three semifinals played were between Boland Schools and Western Province schools in the categories Big, Medium and Small.

Paarl Boys' High just won their Big Schools semi against Drostdy in Worcester. Each side scored two tries but a Ryan Lafite conversion gave Boys' High a 15-13 win.

Augsburg Gimnasium of Clanwilliam ion their Medium Schools match 17-12 against Milnerton at Milnerton.

Excelsior and Groendal met in the Small Schools semi  which the lively Excelsior side won 21-14.

The semifinals between South Western Districts schools and Eastern Province schools are still to be played. Punt will play Die Brandwag of Uitenhage in Mossel Bay on Saturday, 23 August and Kairos will play Bertram at the same venue on Saturday. Marlow will play Outeniqua on Monday in Cradock.
