U18: France-Georgia Final

The European Under-18 Championship is set for a Final of the Elite Division between France and Georgia, both of whom one close encounters in the semifinals.


In fact Georgia were desperately close., They drew 6-all with Italy at the final whistle of their match in Albi but then won the penalty shoot-out 5-4. It was their second such victory for in the first round, which doubled as a quarterfinal they drew 8-all with Ireland and then won the penalty shoot out.


In the other semifinal France beat England 23-19 in Blagnac even though England scored three tries to France's two. France won the boot battle 13-4.


The Final and the third-place play-off will be played at  Ernest Wallon Stadium in Toulouse, the home of the Top-14 team Toulouse.


There was another penalty shoot-out in the Elite Division - when Portugal drew 0-0 with Scotland and then beat them 3-2 on penalties.


Belgium pulled a surprise in Division A by beating Romania to get into the Final against Russia who were too strong for Germany. Russia and Belgium will meet in the Final in Villefranche on Good Friday.


Division B's semifinals are played on 1 April 2015.
