Wildeklawer 2016: Day one results
Dr EG Jansen 19-17 Louis Botha
The first started at 8:00 in the morning, when Louis Botha from Bloemfontein took on EG Jansen. The men from Bloemfontein really surprise their opponents, and EG Jansen had to put up a great fight to gain the victory of 19-17.
EG Jansen lead 19-0 at the break, with hooker Werner Landman scoring two tries, and receive a yellow card in the second half, this gave Louis Botha the opportunity to narrow the lead.

Oakdale Landbou 20-15 Wildeklawer SARU (Welkom Gimnasium)
Welkom Gimnasium is taking part as the SARU invitational team at this year's tournament. Oakdale Landbou showed that they are a noteworthy team, with an 20-15 win over the invitational team.

Stellenberg 27-19 Noord-Kaap
Debutants Stellenberg from Cape Town came up victors in their first ever Wildeklawer match against Noord-Kaap (27-19). The wing Angelo visited the try line twice to help his team win. Noord-Kaap's wing Cameron Hufke did managed to get his team back in the game, however the Settlers was just a little to strong.

Selborne College 3-3 Monument
Selborne College took an early lead with Monument giving away an penalty inside their 10 meter. David Coetzer stepped up and slots over for Selborne. This was a really tough match with both teams giving they all in attack and defence. Deep in the second half Selborne was penalize and Monument opt to kick at poles, Luke Rossouw stepped up and level the score.

Paul Roos Gimnasium 31-12 HTS Middelburg
The game started of a little scrappy with both teams finding their feet, however as it as the men from Paarl settled in the wing Lyle Hendricks went over the try line to open the scoring, Paul Roos lead 7-0. The second try came in one minute later, without any reply form Middelburg. However, Middelburg did manage to put two tries past Paul Roos preventing them form leaving the field with nothing.

Paarl Gimnasium 45-11 Menlopark
Flyhalf Theo Boshoff opened the scoring, giving Paarl Gimnasium the early lead. Menlopark received two penalties, but managed to convert only one before Paarl Gim added the second try. Paarl Gim took the lead of 19-8 into the break. Just like their started the game, the men from Paarl started the second half and scored early.

Paarl Boys' High 51-5 Waterkloof
The firsthalf was evenly pose, Paarl Boys' High just having 55 percent of the possession and taking an 13-5 lead into the break. Paarl Boys' High came back rejuvenated and added six tries to their score, with no reply from the men from Pretoria. Paarls Boys' High gave Waterkloof a 51-5 beating.

Grey College 31-13 Garsfontein
An early penalty awarded to Garsfontein gave them the early lead of 3-0. However, Grey College will have the last say with the first try of the match. No.8 Dian Schoonees scored a converted try for Grey College, they did not stop there adding an additional try, Grey College lead 17-3 at the break. grey College ended the game with an 31-13 win over Garsfontein.

Affies 34-7 Outeniqua
Affies took an early lead with a try, however Outeniqua answered with a try trough No.8 Lance Lamprecht, Affies had a lead of 15-7 at break.
In the second stanza, Outeniqua failed to add any point, while Affies added three tries, ending the game 34-7 in Affies favour.

Diamantveld 17-12 Boland landbou
The match between these two schools were always going to be tough one. Diamantveld had to scrape deep to come up as victors. At the break there was only one try seperating the two sides, Diamantveld took a lead of 5-0 at break.
The second half started with a try and a conversion from Diamantveld flyhalf Charles Williams.
Late in the second half, Boland started to get to gain form ending the match with two unanswered tries, however it was little to late and Diamantveld secured a 17-12 win.
