Wynberg Celebrate with SACS

This year Wynberg are celebrating their 175th birthday and there has been a week of celebrations this week with the rugby match to end it off. SACS is 12 years older than Wynberg though Wynberg was first founded a year before SACS but then took a two years off in 1839, reopening in 1841 as Wynberg Established School, not far from the large army base which the British had founded in what was then a town of its own.

And so we have a match between South Africa's oldest school and South Africa's second oldest school, a special match on a special occasion. As has become traditionally the last match of the season for both schools.

To mark the occasion the 1st XV match, an FNB Classic Clash, will be televised live.

Season so Far

SACS has had a better season than Wynberg but Wynberg have had a late rally with excellent wins over Boland Landbou and Bishops before tumbling to Rondebosch last week.

Wynberg have played 16 matches, winning seven, drawing one and losing eight.

SACS have played 17 matches, winning nine, drawing with Selborne and Rondebosch and losing six.

SACS are in the pressure group just under the FNB Top 20 and have played six Top 20 teams. Wynberg have played against five Top 20 teams.
