Wynberg Festival Day 2 results

Most games played at the festival was tough match-ups with a few shocking results from Hamiltons Under-19 and DF Malan.

Walvis Bay 107-0 Hamiltons U19

It was really one-way-traffic as Walvis Bay destroyed Hamiltons in a 107-0 thriller.

KES 19-7 Tygerberg

KES lead 14-0 at the break, scoring two unanswered tries against Tygerberg. The second stanza started with a try from a rejuvenated Tygerberg side, however KES defense stood firm and before the end whistle KES added another try to the score.


Upington 27-22 Parel Vallei

The scoring was opened though a penalty awarded Parel Vallei, taking the early lead of 3-0. However is was Upington who first registered a try in firsthalf and before the break, they added to the tally. It was a tight contested match, with both teams scoring a try after the 60th minute. The game ended after 27-22 in Upington's favor after Parel Vallei scored a the final try.

St John's College 26-24 Durbanville

Flyhalf Kieran Houlston opened the scoring in the first minute though a penalty kick. Not long after that hooker Sibya Sibya scored the first try and Houlston added the additional two. However, before the break Durbanville scored a try though Lewan de Beer and Renier van Rooyen stepped up to convert, making the scoreline 10-7 in St John's College. Even though Durbanville gave it their all, a penalty save the match for the men from Johannesberg, sealing a 26-24 victory.

Rondebosch 20-18 Windhoek Gimnasium

Windhoek Gim opened the scoring, the firsthalf ended 8-7 in Windhoek's favor. Secondhalf started with each team being awarded a penalty, however Windhoek soon added to the tally though a try. Rondebosch left it till late, and seal the match with a converted try and a penalty.

Jeppe 38-24 Bishops

As the first half ended, there was nothing separating these two sides, with a scoreline of 12-12. Both teams scored two tries and missed a conversion.

Bishops scored the first try of the secondhalf, not a minute later Jeppe replied with a converted try. Jeppe ended the game strong and outmuscled a tired Bishops team in the last 15 minutes of the match.

SACS 78-5 DF Malan

SACS lead 45-0 at the break. DF Malan could not seem to master-up an attack. Late in the secondhalf DF Malan scored a consolation try but fail to convert it , ending the game with a mere five points.

Maritzburg College 29-28 Wynberg Boys' High

The host opened the scoring and lead 20-19 at the break. However a late try by Maritzburg secured the victory the victory. Wynberg missed three conversion, which was the deciding factor is a tight contested match.

Hugenote 10-9 Bellville

Hugenote and Bellville was the last match, and it was well worth the wait. Hugenote scoring the only try of the match in the firsthalf taking a lead of 7-0 at the break. Bellville registered on the scoreboard through penalties. The game ended 10-9 to the men from Wellington.
