Potchefstroom Boys win Classic Clash

The second FNB Classic Clash between the only two boys' schools in Potchefstroom, the Technical High School (HTS) and Potchefstroom Boys' High, ended in a one point victory for the hosts, Boys High.

When the final whistle blew the score of the previous year had been inverted with College winning 13-12 having been behind 12-7 at the break.

HTS scored two tries in the first half through fullback Petrus Fourie and centre Charl McLaren, with McLaren converting his own try. College's only try came through centre Bof Moshane, and was converted by TK Magolego. The half time score was 12- 7 in favour of HTS.

In sharp contrast the second half turned into a huge forward battle with College pack gaining the upper hand in set pieces, especially in scrums . This forward dominance was evident when the man of the match award went to the College prop D Sagado. A mixture of good defence and poor handling in the backlines meant that both backlines struggled to spread the ball in the second half, and field position ultimately made the difference with College being awarded two penalties in the second half. TK Magolego was on form kicking both allowing College to take the game 13-12.
