Schools Top 20 - May 24
If this past weekend's schools' results have proven anything, it has to be that no amount of calculations can substitute good old brain matter in providing a guide as to who the Top 20 schools are in South Africa.
The storm has passed. We can shake our feathers, preen a bit and fly way. One is still one and two is still two - after a great contest.
Paarl Boys' High's victory over the powerful Grey College side was remarkable. Not that Boys' High can rest on their laurels, for they play Paul Roos while College go through the process of becoming Free State and become themselves again on July 30, when they play the other Grey in Port Elizabeth.
We have continued our custom of rewarding playing schools and so Affies, with their second successive big win, are up at three.
In the second half of the Top 20, Helpmekaar beat Garsfontein and so, in that tight group, they have swapped places. Nelspruit's win brings them back onto the Top 20.
