Zweliyandila win Mdantsane final

In a repeat of an FNB Classic Clash earlier this year Zweliyandila met Ntsonkotha in the final of the Dennis Botha Tournament in Mdantsane, East London, on Friday, 30 September.

Zweliyandila thus retain the title they won last year at the first Dennis Botha Tournament.

In the FNB Classic Clash, Zweliyandila won 11-0 in a tense affair. This time they won the final hands down.

Zweliyandila won the first match against John Noah from Queenstown by 12-0 points  Their second match  was against Mbulelo Mbenekane from King William’s Town, won 25-10 points.

At the semi-final stage Zweliyandila played Itembelihle from Port Elizabeth, The Zweliyandila report says: "This match a real test of character, because we managed to six points on the first half and we hung onto that."

In the second half Itembelihle thew everything at Zweliyandila who were forced to defend the whole second half.  Itembelihle managed to score the solitary try under the posts but Zweliyandila blocked their conversion.  Thereafter the final whistle blew.  Zweliyandila sneaked through to the finals with 6-0 points.

The final match was a repeat of the FNB Classic Clash, because Zweliyandila played against Dan Lemfuko’s side (Ntsonkotha). Zweliyandila reports: "We crashed his boys and the score was 41-03 in our favour. Finally we defended the Dennis Botha Trophy.
