Ox ready to prove his worth...again

SPOTLIGHT: Springbok loosehead prop Retshegofaditswe Nché is ready to cement his place in the Springbok squad ahead of the British and Irish Lions series.

The Sharks prop will start in the No.1 jersey against Georgia on Friday.

It will only be his second Test for the national team.

Nché made his Test debut back in 2018, when he was a young Cheetahs player.

On that day, the Springboks went down 20-22 to Wales in Washington DC.

"Ever since then I have been telling myself that I will do whatever it takes to get back there [Bok squad]," he told the media during a virtual conference this week.

"I have been working hard and the end goal was to get here and get a chance.

"As much as I am trying to be a better player, I also have to reap the rewards and getting a chance to represent your country is like the biggest honour a player could ask for."

In terms of Test rugby, Nché will be the most inexperienced player in the Boks' starting pack on Friday.

"I don’t have the experience as most players have here.

"I'm probably the one with the least caps. From what I have learnt from the coaches is that they have standards that the Boks thrive on and I am still getting there.

"I will do anything to make sure that I am on the same page and the same standards as the rest of the players."
