Why SA players need to head overseas
SPOTLIGHT: Springbok scrumhalf Cobus Reinach says playing overseas has helped him get out of his "comfort zone".
After several years with the Sharks, Reinach had a spell with English club Northampton Saints between 2017 and 2020. He then went on to link up with Bok teammate Handre Pollard at French club Montpellier.
Reinach will form a halfback partnership with Pollard for the Boks' first Test against Georgia on Friday.
"I think playing overseas opens up your eyes a little bit," said Reinach
"You get to know different cultures and different types of players.
"It takes you completely out of your comfort zone when you play there. I feel you grow as a player."
Premiership v Top 14
Reinach believes he has taken his game to another level since joining Montpellier.
"I think playing in the Top 14 is a little bit different to the Premiership," he added.
"The Premiership is a lot more structured with more shapes and maps.
"The Top 14 is a little bit more instinctive.
"Playing in the Top 14 got me a little bit more alert and a little bit more ready for the challenge in front of me."
