Lions' pride ready to roar

Coach Johann Ackermann gave his broader squad a chance to showcase what they can do in their final round-robin match against Griquas in Johannesburg, and the fairly young and inexperienced side walked away with a hard-fought 29-19 victory.

Ackermann will, in all probability, have a massive selection headache as his entire squad are fit, ready and available for selection.

Dynamic loose forward, Albertus Smith, was discharged from hospital on Monday after being admitted for a high fever while lock Luvuyiso Lusaseni, prop Dylan Smith and back Selom Gavor have all recovered from a slight case of gastro.

Another prop, Ruan Dreyer, has recovered from a knock to his leg and flyhalf Jaco van der Walt - who sustained a knock to his right quad - will take no contact for at least two days but remains available for selection.

The Lions will host the Free State Cheetahs in the second semi-final on Saturday at Ellis Park, after finishing the round-robin phase of the competition as the only unbeaten side.
