Province not looking beyond Boland

Despite their 52-31 bonus-point win against Griquas, Province could still miss out on a play-off spot if they fail to beat their Cape rivals.

The Golden Lions are snapping at their heels on the standings, while Griquas could also still potentially make the play-offs if they beat the Free State Cheetahs and other results go their way.

The Golden Lions will be playing the Sharks in Johannesburg on Friday and a win for the former will definitely put pressure on Province to win their match against Boland - possibly with a bonus-point as well.

"We are not in the play-offs yet," said Western Province assistant coach Dawie Snyman.

"Our most important match is on Friday. We can only think about the next phase after that match. It is a derby for the two Provinces.

"They [Boland] are a well-coached team and they are very physical with their forwards, so we have to be sharp.

They showed what they can do against the Blue Bulls. They had a very good match for 60 minutes in that game."

Snyman believes that their victory over Griquas showed that they are a team for the big occasions.

"There was pressure on us to do well in Kimberley.

"Griquas did not lose a match there this season and it was their 130 anniversary so there was a full stadium and the pressure on us was there."

Snyman added: "I don't think the focus is gone in terms of what we must do.

"There was a lot of confidence and there was a lot of intensity in training [Monday] - we are focused on what we must do this week."
