WP fullback role up for grabs

Regular fullback Sarel Marais is currently sidelined with a knee injury, while Dillyn Leyds is with the Springboks preparing for a Rugby Championship encounter in Perth.

However, the Cape side have a number of versatile players in their camp and assistant coach Dawie Snyman is not too worried about who fills the No.15 role.

"There are a few guys that have played there before," said Snyman

"Obviously Craig [Barry] has played there in the National Provincial Challenge - but he is returning from injury. Jonesy [Huw Jones] played there at Under-21s then you got Ruhan Nel that has actually played there his whole life.

"Then you got the option of either Damian Willemse or Rob [Robert du Preez] that played one or two games at the back. We will just have to see who is training hard and who is ready to play."

Meanwhile Province could have the services of BlitzBok star Werner Kok and flank Sikhumbuzo Notshe for the clash against the Cheetahs as the duo are returning from their respective injuries.

Rynhardt Elstadt is another possibility for selection, but Snyman is doubtful about the 27-year-old's availability this week.

"We will know after tomorrow [Tuesday] if Rynhardt is alright, but it looks like he is still a week away," said Snyman
