The Cheetahs came off a torrid run, having lost three games on the trot to the Sharks, Lions and Griquas respectively before picking up the victory in Nelspruit to stay in the hunt for their title defence.

Cheetahs Director of Rugby credited his players for stepping up when it was needed and said that 'anything is possible' now that his side are in the knockout stages.

"We are happy with the win, obviously there's a lot to still work on, but I feel it's a team sport, it is a team decision to win and then anything is possible." said Steyn.

He added: "Credit to the players, they showed some heart and they worked, so yeah, very thankful for the win and looking forward to next week."

The Cheetahs will face the Lions in the Currie Cup semifinal at Ellis Park on Saturday, September 14.
