Bok legend's son on Boland bench

The Cavaliers host the winless Pumas in Wellington in a Currie Cup Round Four match on Friday.

Louw senior played 19 Tests for the Springboks in the 1980s and was banned for a short while when he switched codes to Rugby League with fellow Springbok Ray Mordt. They played for Wigan Warriors.

Louw junior - unlike his father, who was a burly, but skilled, loose forward - plays in the centres.

As reported by rugby365 earlier this week the Cavaliers have been bolstered by the return of Zandré Jordaan and Jacques Engelbrecht - two of the team's most dangerous ball-carriers.

Jordaan (calf strain) and Engelbrecht (groin strain) both missed last weekend's match against the Golden Lions at Ellis Park due to injuries.

Jordaan replaces Wayne Wilschut in the starting line-up at No.8, while Engelbrecht's inclusion at flank sees Shaun McDonald making a positional switch to lock, in place of Hanno Kitshoff.

Wilschut and Kitshoff have both been named as replacements for this match.

The Cavaliers will once again be without the accurate boot of Nico Scheepers, as the fullback is still recovering from an ankle strain. Scheepers is expected to return to training next week.

Three more regulars in Boland's weekly matchday squads - Jovelian de Koker (scrumhalf, groin strain), Francois Hanekom (prop, concussion) and Sergio Torrens (wing, quad strain) - were also not considered because of injuries.

Utility back Gerrit van Wyk will get a rare start at right wing in the place of Torrens.

Boland Cavaliers: 15 Adriaan Carelse, 14 Gerrit van Wyk, 13 Christopher Bosch, 12 Ryan Nel (captain), 11 Danwel Demas, 10 Theuns Kotze, 9 Marnus Hugo, 8 Zandre Jordaan, 7 Jacques Engelbrecht, 6 Shaun Adendorff, 5 Joubert Horn, 4 Shaun McDonald, 3 Basil Short, 2 Clemen Lewis, 1 Stephanus Wessels.
