Bulls need to look in the mirror says White

REACTION: Bulls Director of Rugby Jake White expressed his disappointment with his team's second-half performance against Griquas in a Currie Cup Round 10 clash in Pretoria on Saturday.

White's side ran out 48-38 winners over Griquas which helped them reclaim the top spot from the Cheetahs in the standings.

Loaded with several United Rugby Championship stars, the defending champions were accurate from the outset, playing with enterprise and at a pace that earned them the four-try bonus-point after just 29 minutes and a commanding 36-5 half-time lead.

However, ten minutes into the second half, yellow cards to Lizo Gqoboka and Madosh Tambwe in quick succession breathed new life into the contest with Griquas fighting back to ensure the hosts had a nervy final few minutes.

"The first half was good. We did enough, but we also made a couple of mistakes," said White.

"I am disappointed about the fact that we allowed them to score those tries in the second half.

"I am disappointed with them [players] and they know it. I'm grateful for the win, but we have to look at ourselves in the mirror."

Poor defence

White said his players took the half-time score for granted.

"That's the problem sometimes, when it becomes too easy and you get a little bit loose.

"We probably played into Griquas' hands as well and I am disappointed by the way we defended.

"If you say we were comfortable and so far ahead then it is even more of an indictment on our guys because that is when you got to keep them out as well."

On the two yellow cards, White added: "We speak about it every week and to give two cards away when you are 30 points ahead was just too easy.

"It is something we are going to have to get right and we are going to have to sit with the players.

"We can't just keep talking about it we got to get it right."
