Senatla to emulate his idol

Seabelo Senatla, recently selected for the Springboks year-end tour, hopes he can learn enough from his idol, Bryan Habana, to emulate him.

Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer announced five rookies in his squad on Monday with the speedy Sevens wing a deserved selection after a successful Currie Cup.

A recent convert to the 15-man game, Senatla has said that his conversion was a first step to reaching his goal of becoming a Springbok.

"Coming to Western province, it was always my goal to make it to the Springboks, I saw it as a stepping stone because I have always been dreaming of it forever," the Province flyer said.

"It has always been a goal to be chosen for the Bok squad and I am happy that it came to pass."

Senatla, clearly overwhelmed and excited at his selection, is hoping that he can pick up some pointers from the legend that is Habana.

"It is exciting to be working with Bryan [Habana] again," Senatla continued.

"He was my idol and inspiration growing up so linking with him again will be awesome!

"I am going to try and learn as much as I can from him.

"It is something special being in the same team as your idol and training with him."

Senatla, as a new recruit into the Bok fold is not unrealistic about his chances of getting game time on the tour, but he still feels that there is plenty to gain from simply being involved.

"Coach Meyer has not actually spoken to me about the chances of getting some game time," he said.

"But the Boks have been playing really well together so I am expecting the coach to stick with some continuity there.

"I am going to look to try and learn as much as I can and to get used to the system."

The Sevens specialist has looked very comfortable in the 15-man game at Currie Cup level, but when asked about changing his game for Test rugby he was sure that it would not require much tweaking.

"I don't think I need to change much, rugby is rugby, Sevens or fifteen-a-side, I mean they are different but I will not need to change too much,"

"I am just going use the skill I learnt from Sevens and try to implement them with the Boks."
