VIDEO: Bulls' scrum crisis worsens
INJURY UPDATE: The Blue Bulls were dealt another cruel blow in the build-up to their trip to Cape Town this week.
The Pretoria-based outfit will face defending Currie Cup champions Western Province at Newlands, in the semifinal, without one of their starting props.
Loosehead prop Matthys Basson injured his calf during the 7-34 loss to WP in Pretoria last week and he will be unavailable for selection.
It is a massive blow for the Bulls - who conceded a penalty try as a result of the constant scrum pressure their team was under at Loftus last week.
To face the powerful Province scrum at Newlands will now an even steeper mountain to climb.
The silver lining is that the Bulls welcome back the return of utility back Duncan Matthews, who has recovered from his hamstring injury. He will be available for selection this weekend.
They will hope to make a dramatic about-turn from last week's hammering.
Bulls coach Pote Human was in a defiant mood in the build-up to the Newlands trip.
"I've said to the guys after the game, the one positive thing is that everyone is on zero," Human said.
“It is a once off. If we can pitch and play like we can, I think we can surprise them but it is going to be very difficult especially in Cape Town. "
