WP's brawling duo to face hearing

Western Province's brawling loose forwards, Jebb Sinclair and Tyrone Holmes, will appear before a South African Rugby Union disciplinary hearing on Tuesday.

The duo, who disgraced themselves and the proud tradition of their team, were red-carded during WP's 27-43 Currie Cup loss to the Sharks in Durban at the weekend.

They will be charged under Law 10.4(a) - punching.

Peter Ingwersen has been appointed as the judicial officer.

In a series of bizarre events at the Kings Park stadium, the visitors were reduced to 12 players by the end of the match - following two red cards for punching and a yellow card for a late charge.

The first red card came when WP's Canadian import, Sinclair, was sent off in the 53rd minute, but not before putting rival Jean Deysel on the seat of his pants - which earned the Sharks flank a yellow card for 'provocation'.

The visitors were later reduced to just 13 players, when flank Tyrone Holmes was also red-carded for punching. And that became 12, when Wilhelm van der Sluys was yellow-carded for a late charge on Louis Ludik.

* SARU also announced that Falcons Under-21 player Willie Engelbrecht, who was cited for allegedly striking a Griquas player, will appear at a hearing in Pretoria on Tuesday.

Tokkie van Zyl has been appointed as the judicial officer.

* Golden Lions player JR Esterhuizen, cited for a dangerous tackle in the Under-21 match between the Golden Lions and Leopards in Potchefstroom last Friday, will appear before Louis Booyse in Johannesburg.
