Barritt: We will be back

Saracens skipper Brad Barritt said his side left the field in St Etienne with their heads held high - despite losing out on a place in the 2015 European Champions Cup Final at Twickenham Stadium.

The England and British & Irish Lions centre was at the heart of a typically dogged defensive display from the English club, who led 6-3 at half-time against ASM Clermont Auvergne before going down 9-13.

"These big games are always on a knife edge and we just fell on the wrong side," he said.

"But I am very impressed with the guts we showed to come to a place like this and I am sure we can come back next year.

"It often takes just one roll of the dice in a big game like this for one side to come out on top and while Clermont took their big chance we did not.

"But in terns of character shown, I could not have asked for anything more from my team.

"We made them make a lot of errors and at half-time we were very pleased.

"Unfortunately, a lapse of concentration at the start of the second half allowed them to take the game.

"We had played them twice before this season in the groups stages and we had a good grasp of what they were about."
