Now or never for Bonnaire
ASM Clermont Auvergne stalwart Julien Bonnaire is determined to end his career at the club he loves by lifting the European Champions Cup.
The France back row forward will leave the Stade Marcel-Michelin at the end of this season after eight successful seasons.
However, he is still in search of his first Champions Cup triumph, having tasted defeat the 2013 Final and been a part of the Clermont side to reach three Champions Cup semifinals.
But Bonnaire is just two victories away from lifting the Champions Cup at Twickenham, and he is desperate to get his hands on the trophy at the final chance.
"It's now or never," the loose forward said.
"I would like to see the colours of Clermont Auvergne hanging from the trophy, finishing my career here with my friends.
"The more you advance in a career the less opportunities you get to lift the Champions Cup.
"The victory against Northampton Saints was my last European quarterfinal in Clermont.
"And this semifinal will definitely be my last, moreover in Saint-Etienne.
"I want to give everything to have no regrets in the end."
The Top 14 heavyweights must first battle past Saracens in their last-four clash at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint Etienne on Saturday.
They have both scored a victory over each other in pool one, but Clermont will be buoyed by their 46-6 destruction of Northampton Saints in the semifinals.
And Bonnaire reckons they will have to be at their maximum if they are to overcome last season's beaten finalists.
"With more than 30,000 people in the stands of Geoffroy-Guichard, it's great," he said.
"I do not know if we will come to boil the cauldron, but we will require us to be boiling if we want to compete with Saracens.
"Everything is for us to do the best matches "
